Why a dedicated space changes the conversation

On general chat platforms, queer users routinely spend the first minutes of a conversation establishing safety. In a space where identity is the baseline, that work disappears and the conversation starts somewhere more interesting.

It also changes moderation. Abuse that a general platform treats as a one-off insult is a recognised pattern here, and the guidelines name it explicitly.

Identity fields are optional and granular

• Pronouns can be shown on your profile or kept private.
• Gender identity and orientation tags are optional.
• Each field has its own visibility switch — it is not all-or-nothing.
• You can be present in rooms without publishing anything beyond a display name.

Words we use carefully

We say 'queer' as an umbrella term because many members use it for themselves; we also use specific terms where they are more accurate. Nobody on TrueVibe is required to adopt a label to take part.
