18+ LGBTQ+ community · consent first

A gay Omegle alternative, without the parts that made Omegle unsafe

Omegle closed in November 2023, so every "gay Omegle" site today is a separate product with its own rules. A worthwhile alternative keeps the easy part — meeting new queer people face to face — while adding adult-only access, identity-aware moderation and one-tap blocking. TrueVibe is an 18+ LGBTQ+ community with profiles, interest rooms, events and mutual-match messaging available now; live one-to-one video matching is still in development and is labelled as a preview on this site.

What people mean by a "gay Omegle"

A site that pairs you with a stranger for a video conversation, with a queer-specific audience instead of a general one. Omegle itself was a general random-chat site that shut down in 2023 after long-running moderation and child-safety problems; the phrase survived the product.

Why Omegle closed, and why it matters to the alternatives

Omegle's founder announced its shutdown in November 2023, citing the cost of fighting misuse of the service. The lesson for anyone choosing a replacement is that unmoderated pairing at scale is the failure mode, not an unlucky side effect.

So the useful question is not "which site is most like Omegle?" but "which site fixed the thing that broke Omegle?"

What to check before you use any random video chat site

  • Adults only: is 18+ enforced at sign-up and stated in the terms?
  • Moderation: do the rules name anti-LGBTQ+ abuse, and do people read reports?
  • Controls on screen: are mute, skip, block and report reachable during a call?
  • Recording: is anything recorded or stored by default?
  • Location: is precise location or distance exposed to strangers?
  • Consent to message: can anyone message you before mutual interest?
  • Honesty: are previews and planned features labelled, rather than implied to be live?

How TrueVibe differs from a random-chat site

TrueVibe is not anonymous roulette. You create an account, set pronouns, interests and what you are here for, and matching uses those signals rather than raw proximity. That removes most drive-by harassment before it starts.

  • Consent before content: nobody has to explain why they are leaving a conversation.
  • Least data possible: we ask for what matching needs and nothing more.
  • Control in reach: mute, skip, block and report belong on the same screen as the conversation.
  • Human review: serious reports are read by people, not only by automated filters.
  • Honest labelling: previews and planned features are marked as such, everywhere.

Getting started safely

  1. Confirm you are 18 or over

TrueVibe is adults-only, and the age step is part of sign-up rather than an afterthought.

  2. Set your profile and intention

Pronouns, interests and whether you are here for friends, dating, networking or community.

  3. Start in rooms and events

Interest rooms and community events are live today, so you can meet people before video matching launches.

  4. Keep the controls in reach

Block is instant and mutual; reports reach human moderators. You never owe anyone an explanation for leaving.
