Distance-based apps reveal more than a number: several approximate distances taken over time can narrow a person's position, which is a real risk for anyone who is not out or lives somewhere hostile. TrueVibe never shows precise location — sharing a broad region is optional and can be switched off entirely. Matching runs on interests, language and intention instead.

Why 'distance' is location data
A distance reading is a circle around you. Combine readings from a few vantage points or a few moments and the circles intersect. Privacy researchers have long documented this as trilateration, and it is why we do not publish distances at all.
Who this protects
People who are not out at home, at work or at school
People in countries or regions where being LGBTQ+ carries legal or physical risk
Anyone who has been harassed or stalked before
Anyone who simply does not want an app to know where they sleep
How TrueVibe handles location
No precise coordinates, no distance display, no proximity ranking
Region is optional, broad, and self-declared
You can remove it at any time from your profile settings
We collect only what matching needs, in line with data minimisation principles
What you still control
The largest remaining source of location leakage is you: a landmark through a window, a local accent plus a mentioned street, a photo with a recognisable background. Blur or change your background if that matters to you, and keep specifics for people you trust.
Who this is for
This is for you if
You are not out and cannot risk being identified locally.
You want connection without a map.
This is not for you if
You specifically want to find people within a few kilometres.
TrueVibe is free to join and strictly for adults aged 18 and over. You control what your profile shows, and you can block or report anyone at any time.
